We're Kevin and Marie; the people behind Cocofino Yogurt, and now, Neighbours Cafe + Provisions.
We met in Australia on working holiday visas, both deep in the hospitality world. From day one, we bonded over good food, good ambiance, and a shared love of bringing people together. We've always felt most at home hosting friends and family around a big table filled with something delicious.
Originally from Quebec, we eventually made our way back to Canada and settled in Tofino, where Kevin had lived before we met. We fell hard for the place- the pace, the landscape, the community- and knew we wanted to build something meaningful here on the West Coast.
That first project became Cocofino Yogurt. It started about four years ago in our kitchen, giving away homemade dairy-free yogurt to neighbours and friends. Word travels fast in a small town, and before long people started asking where they could buy it. Kevin had quietly created what many locals and visitors now call the most delicious dairy-free yogurt around.
We grew the brand slowly and organically through pop-ups and the Tofino Farmers Market, all while working full-time in hospitality. Then came frozen yogurt, made completely from scratch, which turned into a whole new adventure. People just kept coming back.
Over time, the dream kept getting bigger. We wanted a space where we could serve frozen yogurt alongside really good coffee (one of Marie's greatest passions) and build something that truly reflected everything we love about hospitality. After a few failed attempts and near misses, Gaia Grocery came along and it immediately felt right.
It was a full-circle moment, actually, because Gaia was the very first grocery store to ever carry Cocofino Yogurt on its shelves.
What started as a yogurt project in our kitchen has grown into something we never could have predicted: a neighbourhood space where quality food, specialty coffee, local products, and Cocofino all come together under one roof.
Through Neighbours Cafe + Provisions, we hope to create a place that feels warm, welcoming, and familiar- somewhere you stop in for a coffee, grab dinner ingredients on the way home, or stay a little longer to chat with your Neighbour.
We never imagined we'd end up working this hard (haha) - but we truly love building something together and are incredibly excited for what’s to come.
